Afternoon Tea & Spa at The Scarlet Eco Hotel
The incredibly picturesque The Scarlet is instantly recognisable. From the lurring green natural pool framed in reeds and lily pads, the iconic barrel shaped cedar wood sauna with the finest port hole view to the ocean and the indoor pool boasting floor to ceiling glass which allows you to instantly forget that you’re not leisurely breast stroking into the deep blue.
The spa and restaurant at The Scarlet are available to book for non staying guests so I took my Mum down to enjoy a morning of relaxation followed by an afternoon tea in the lovely dining room. The spa also offers a range of treatments to enjoy, of which we opted for use of the cliff top hot tubs which you can book a 30 minute slot for.
The Scarlet is based in the cliff above Mawgan Porth beach. There’s parking at the hotel plus Mawgan Porth is easily accessed by bus. The whole hotel focuses on the beautiful view, with large windows and terrace throughout. There’s a short cut path way from the hotel down to the beach, if you wanted to break up a day with a quick frolic in the sand or to pop into the little shops down on the roadside. It’s also handy to note that The Scarlet is adults only!
Use of the spa was lovely; all guests to the spa enjoy the use of the indoor pool, outdoor natural pool, relaxation rooms, comfy zen spaces, the sauna and the shower facilities. As mentioned, the use of the hot tubs is booked as an extra and it was a lovely touch to enjoy 30 minutes in the warm water, drinks brought to us and gaze heart eyed at the view. The outdoor pool is unheated and at a natural temperature dependant on the time of year, it’s home to reeds and water plants which aid filtration and it is a ode to the incredible landscape that the hotel finds itself in. Personally, I love the visual of the pool, much nicer than a linear and modern pool which would contrast with the irregularity of the rugged coastline beyond.
Once we had indulged in all the spa had to offer, we were gracefully escorted to the restaurant and seated for afternoon tea. A stunning selection of finger sandwiches, scones and mini decadent cakes were placed on the table and we tucked in. Everything was lovely and the service was also fab, very friendly and welcoming.
The Scarlet is a luxurious place to stay so it’s very nice to have an excuse to spend the afternoon here and take in the beauty of it. You can find all the facilities available at the spa here including a day pass, and the restaurant where you can book an afternoon tea here.
