Coastal Walk; The Lizard Point to Housel Bay Beach
Tucked around the coastline from the ever popular landmark of The Lizard, is the magical place called Housel Bay. I’d like to say it’s a secret location but it’s not, there’s a hotel based above the cove and it’s becoming a popular spot for beach go-ers, but still beautiful none-the-less! The best way to explore Housel Bay is to start off in The Lizard village and walk the coastal path.
The walk itself isn’t too long, it takes around 30 minutes. The coastal path is relatively flat however the access down to The Lizard point from the car park is steep, as is the walk down to Housel Bay beach, it’s steep and includes a bit of climbing over boulders. There are steps down to The Lizard Point to make access easier, and if the access to the beach worries you, you can sit on a bench on the path and enjoy the view from above.
The views are so glorious, the calm waters showing off in a beautiful aqua blue. You can also often spot seals around this coastline so keep an eye out for them!
As mentioned, the access to the beach involves a steep climb down some uneven steps and eventually a clamber over some boulders. The beach is small and the tide can cause you to get cut off very easily so please always access with someone else to keep an eye out and be mindful of tide times!
You can’t go wrong on the walk, just follow the signposted coastal path. The Lizard Point offers some lovely cafes for lunch or you can treat yourself to a luxury dinner at Housel Bay Hotel before you head back.
