Cornish Castles; Doyden Castle, Port Quinn
Cornwall has a variety of castles and one of my favourites is the teeny tiny Doyden Castle. Doyden Castle is at Port Quinn which is a small cove based between Polzeath and Port Isaac. There’s a small National Trust car park at Port Quinn where you can park up and take in the pretty cove. Heading up the hill towards Polzeath, you’ll find a spot to climb over the hedge and following the path, soon find yourself at Doyden Castle.
Doyden Castle was built in the 1830’s by a gentleman who wished to build somewhere to entertain friends. It’s now owned by the National Trust and is available to stay in as a holiday let. The castle has a section of private garden where you can take in the sunset and peace and quiet of the clifftop.
You can find Doyden Castle online to rent here.
