Cornwall’s Best Hidden Gem? Fern Pit Cafe, Newquay
With all our quaint villages, narrow lanes and tucked away coves; it’s not hard to stumble upon a hidden gem which has been hiding for years. Always someones favourite place but one you’ve never heard of before and one sunny afternoon, I set out to find one that had suddenly come onto my radar.
Fern Pit Cafe is in Newquay, overlooking Crantock beach and The Gannel. We parked up in the Pentire carpark and walked a few minutes around the headland to this spot. There’s parking on road nearby but it is residential so best to park up in the car park.
The cafe is gorgeous; can you beat that view? On a day like this, there’s nothing better than sitting back and enjoying people watching with a cream tea. There’s inside seating if you want to shelter from the sun or plenty of outside seating to enjoy it. The seating is tucked all over the tiered garden.
Once you’ve enjoyed the cafe, and believe me you can sit here for hours, you can pop down the path to the ferry and ride their ferry across to Crantock and spend the rest of the day on the beach, bliss.
