Dolphin Spotting with Padstow Sealife Safaris
Our oceans are alive with incredible marine life and you don’t have to go too far from home to explore it. Padstow Sealife Safaris offer an incredible trip throughout the summer, to head out onto the water in search of feeding dolphins with the possibility of seeing seals, seabirds and even whales!
We headed down one morning to get dressed ready for the trip. They provide you with life vests and waterproof trousers and it’s best to come armed with a waterproof jacket and good footwear for being on a slippy boat. You are on a rib boat so the risk of getting a bit wet is quite high, although we only had a slight sprinkling on one occasion!
We headed out of the estuary and followed the coastline around before heading out into the open waters. It wasn’t long before we were surrounded by common dolphins, playing and feeding. It was magical!
We had enjoyed the dolphins swimming around and then started to head into the Port Isaac bay. All of a sudden, word was out that a minke whale had been spotted so we quickly turned around and headed back out to see the absolute beauty for ourselves.
Following the coastline back in, you head towards the rumps which is off of Polzeath and here we found some lounging seals – very well disguised so you may not be able to spot them!
A morning spent with these guys was high on my wish list so I was absolutely delighted to finally head out. Spotting dolphins and the minke whale was a dream come true and an absolutely incredible thing to do with the whole family.
