Falmouth’s Finest 4* Hotel; The Greenbank Hotel
January feels like the weather; the gloomy drizzly days replicate the drag that the month can be. Post festivities and getting back into it, it’s not everyones favourite. For locals and visitors, The Greenbank Hotel in Falmouth has an incredible offer to brighten up those dull days! For £149*, you can grab a nights stay in their best available room, with a bottle of fizz and a hearty breakfast. Kick back, enjoy the view and cosy up in their stunning rooms for a much needed change of scenery!
I got to enjoy that very deal and made my way to Falmouth to check into this historic place. The Greenbank Hotel is luxurious contemporary with a vibrant history. The hotel itself dates back to the 1640’s, where it was an Inn for sailors. Throughout the years it became a hotel and boasts guests including Florence Nightingale and Kenneth Grahame who started writing the Wind in the Willows right here. We checked in and headed up to their Florence Suite, wait until you see this!..
Wow – pretty damn special, right?! This suite comes complete with a big spacious bed, separate lounge area, large balcony overlooking the water, two TV’s with Netflix, a huge bath with a view, rainfall shower and so, so much more! Falmouth and this harbour area is absolutely buzzing in summer, it’s the place to be. But in the Winter, it’s the perfect excuse to make the most of all this room has to offer. You won’t want to leave anyway!
Upon arrival you’re provided with a bottle of fizz which is chilling in ice. The room also offers beautiful White Company toiletries and all the hot drink supplies you could need.
Once settled in, we moved downstairs to the Waters Edge bar and had a cocktail. Their cocktail menu is packed full of amazing options and we settled with a choc-orange espresso martini and a kelapa kelapa, described as palm trees and sunshine – what everyone needs in January!!
As well as the Waters Edge bar and beautiful fine dining restaurant, boasting 2 AA Rosette awards, The Greenbank Hotel also has a pub downstairs – so cool! The Working Boat is an amazing pub, it has the best vibes and also enjoys that view. We popped down for a wholesome dinner, the sharing platter of small plates is fantastic, highly recommend.
The hotel is very proud of its history, and rightly so. In the hallway, you’ll find the original guest book which is signed by Florence Nightingale on her visit in 1907. Amazing piece of history and I’m so pleased they still have it and display it in the hotel.
Once we had eaten dinner in The Working Boat, we settled into bed and watched some Netflix. The bed is so comfy and sleeping here was a dream. We woke up to a very calm and slow January morning before heading down for breakfast. The breakfast offers everything from pastries, fresh fruit, granola and toast followed by a great selection of cooked options.
A quick stroll into the town to work off breakfast and it was time to check out. The Greenbank is perfectly located just a few minutes walk away from Falmouth’s old highstreet which offers some amazing boutique shops and independent spots. We had a fantastic stay at The Greenbank, a much appreciated brightener on an otherwise quite gloomy January.
