Luxury Family Hotel; Dinner At Fowey Hall
Fowey is one of the most popular destinations for a Cornish summer. With it’s gentle river frontage, array of eateries and stunning old buildings; it’s not hard to see why people love it so much. Perched right at the top of the hill, overlooking all Fowey has to offer, is Fowey Hall. Originally built as a personal residence, the Hall is now a luxury hotel, where you can stay or enjoy dining throughout the day.
Built in 1899 by a gentleman from Polruan (a small village across the water), the building is now owned by Luxury Family Hotels, who have revamped the mansion into a very special place, including a luxury spa experience. Inside, there are still many original features and the decor is very tasteful to the age of the building, incorporating cosy corners and warm colours.
I was very kindly invited down to enjoy dinner at Fowey Hall and once greeted, we sat on the terrace to enjoy some drinks. The drinks and cocktail menu are varied and unique, offering local spirits and seasonal tastes.
Drinks finished, we were whisked into the dining room to enjoy our meal. The hotel is luxurious and the service is faultless, but there is still a relaxed feel to ensure no one feels uncomfortable. Families with small children, couples celebrating and friends were all enjoying the space harmoniously.
Main course included crab linguine and locally caught fish and dessert was a perfectly tangy lemon tart and a very decadent chocolate mousse.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening in Fowey Hall and would love to come back again to enjoy the rooms and the spa.
From the terrace and gardens, you can enjoy a beautiful view across the water, over to Polruan and enjoy the sunset sky. There’s ample parking at the Hall, child friendly play areas and you’re only a few minutes walk to the lovely Readymoney Cove Beach.
