Seafood Sundays & Sea Views For Days; Housel Bay, The Lizard
I first uncovered Housel Bay during an impromptu coastal stroll from Lizard point. As we wandered along the most Southern stretch, the most stunning turquoise bay came into sight and we were so excited. We wandered down and enjoyed watching people swimming and enjoying the tranquility of the not-so-present waves. Little did I know at the time, that just above us was one of the most perfectly positioned hotels, Housel Bay Hotel.
Housel Bay Hotel, dating back to 1894, is a grand and characterful hotel. With a mix of honours to its past and modern improvements, there’s a real charm throughout the hotel. The garden, which sprawls down the cliffside infront, is perfect for finding a hidden corner to sit back and relax. With seating and benches perfectly positioned, you can sit and take in the faultless sea view ahead, Lizard Point to the right and the Signal Station to the left.
The hotel offers two restaurants, the terrace and Fallowfields, plus their Marconi’s bar. All with large windows to frame their idyllic view and the terrace where you can embrace natures elements. Throughout the Summer season, they have swapped their Sunday lunches for Seafood Sundays; a true celebration of local seafood produce. With Cadgwith lobster taking centre stage plus squid, crab, monkfish and more.
We tucked into a whole Cadgwith lobster, which comes in a choice of finishes, crispy squid and delicious monkfish skewers with roasted red pepper. The food, service and the setting couldn’t be more fabulous and the perfect way to slow down on a Sunday.
