The Hidden Hut; Beach Side Dining In Portscatho, Cornwall
I don’t think it would be extreme to say that fine dining is out and street side, or in this case, beach side, dining is in. There’s nothing better than heading to a beautiful location and being able to grab some good, wholesome food to take to a quiet spot. That is exactly what Hidden Hut brings and there’s no surprise that it’s become somewhat famous in Cornwall and beyond.
The Hidden Hut is based above Porthcurnick Beach, a stones throw from Portscatho on the Roseland Peninsula. It’s easy to find and with an array of beautiful, breathtaking sea view spots to sit around the area, it’s no wonder it’s such a hit. The menu is fresh and flavoursome, changing regularly to keep up with seasonal pieces.
On this occasion we opted for the fish stew and the daal, both incredible and both were gone in seconds! The layered flavours and freshness is something you wouldn’t expect to find from a beach shack, that’s what makes The Hidden Hut so special. The dishes came with a warm roll and flat bread respectively so it was a good fill before strolling back in the sunshine.
The Hut is brought to us by Simon Stallard, who has also published his own cook book. It has become a popular spot for locals and celebs, with people such as Laura Jackson, Ben Fogle, Rick Stein and Dawn Fresh to name a few, popping by and enjoying!
Keep an eye on The Hidden Hut website and Instagram to check on their opening hours through the season and ensure you get this place on your Cornish bucket list. My best advice, head down early to avoid the bustle!
