The Pig at Harlyn Bay & The 25 Mile Menu
Chances are you’ve seen photos of The Pig before and thought, ‘what a beautiful place!’ The Pig is a chain of hotels, where they find unique and historic buildings with a sense of grandeur, turn them into the most fascinating hotels and restaurants. Full of hidden rooms, private corners and filled to the ceiling with intricate details. A few years back, The Pig came to Cornwall, setting up home on the North coast in beautiful Harlyn. I’ve been desperate to peek inside ever since and recently, I had my chance!
The Pig at Harlyn is based just inland from the coast of seven bays. There’s a unique feeling whilst here, as no corner lends itself to the nautical and surfy feel you usually find this close to the sea. A perfect mix of country mansion, warm fireplaces and antique glassware tied together with a sea view and a menu full of shellfish.
It’s hard to believe that The Pig has all these rooms! So many little spaces to relax, cosy up and settle down. All these rooms are open to visiting public, whether you’re there for the restaurant, a drink or the spa. The hotel is upstairs and features its own set of private spaces.
After getting lost down corridors, turning left and right, stepping up and down into new spaces, I finally made my way to the restaurant. The Pig at Harlyn features two eateries; the main restaurant and their summer dining space outside, aptly named the Lobster Shed.
All the interiors inspo!
Before our lunch, we had a tour around the garden with the head gardener. The Pig has a 25 mile menu, ensuring that everything served from both restaurants has either been produced on site or by local growers. The kitchen garden is a celebration of wild creativity and intricately planned architecture.
Working up an appetite, we headed to our lunch spot. The Lobster Shed is a relaxed, seasonal dining experience where you can take in the gorgeous surroundings whilst enjoying some fresh lobster and a drink in hand.
I went for the half lobster Thermidor and it was delish!
If all the above isn’t good enough, they also have gorgeous treatment rooms on site. They have two rooms known as the Potting Sheds. Set back at the bottom of the garden, these sheds house the massage tables, a bathroom and all the tranquil details to give you the perfect relaxation.
As beautiful as I was expecting, if not with a sprinkling of surprise. I could sit within their rooms for hours, taking in the surroundings and living out my whimsical country manor dreams. All followed by a quick dip in that gorgeous sea.
